Secondary succession is much more common and occurs in an area where life has existed but was wiped out by a disaster. In Masoala, the cyclones cause great disasters. Overtime, small plants and shrubs would begin to grow, developing into larger plants. Also, small insects and reptiles would begin to reappear. This would eventually lead to the growth of primates.
